Strolling around Oxford, creating faux combat scenes and decorating cakes are just some of the activities that have been keeping ORA students at St Hugh’s creating and exploring as they come to the end of their stay.
Trip to Oxford
A trip to the city centre gave ORA students at St Hugh’s the chance to do some sightseeing and shopping this week. They marvelled at the other colleges nearby, noting their extraordinary architecture and beauty, before they ran off into souvenir shops to grab a memento of their visit.
During their excursion, pupils also enjoyed wandering around the University Parks. The chance to have a break from the busy city was a welcome experience and everyone enjoyed chatting and lounging about in the beautiful outdoor scenery.
Stage Combat Masterclass
The chance to learn how to perform faux fights on stage was an exciting prospect to many of our students this week as they gathered for the Stage Combat Masterclass.
After a series of demonstrations to show pupils how the kicks, punches and headlocks were supposed to be performed safely whilst looking realistic, students were given the opportunity to pair up and practice the moves themselves.
Fortunately, there were no real punches thrown as the practising continued. Some students got the hang of how to realistically perform faux combat and the performances were impressive and showed real theatrical talent.
To take a break from the exciting exploring and careful combat, students had the option to join a cake decorating activity. Complete with sprinkles, marshmallows, icing and chocolate chips, everyone got stuck in with creating colourful and tasty works of art.
Have a look at the photos below to see some of the delicious creations made by our pupils at St Hugh’s – sadly some didn’t even last long enough for a picture!
With Session 4 coming to an end, it is with a heavy heart that we wave off our students studying at St Hugh’s tonight at the Graduation event. Check back in the coming days to hear about the exciting evening students will have tonight!
